Nick gone to visit the Tall Ships
With Nick away I was alone this weekend so not as much done up in the garden. I transplanted a tray of Little Gem (Tom Thumb) into larger pots. I did the same for some Sweet Basil. The main thing today was that I sowed twelve trays of mixed leaves in the tunnel. Thats twelve trays sown, three Sundays in a row.

Results of our Mixed Leaves Test
As I said back in March; we have 74 trays in the polytunnel just for mixed leaves, we bought every possible brand and type in garden centres and on the net and we eventually ended up with two variety’s that grew pretty quickly, were popular in the restaurant and were “cut and come again”.

Well the fruits of our toils are coming to the fore again; yesterday we brought lots of baby beets and baby turnip down to the restaurant. Followed by ten kilos of mixed leaves and loads of fresh herbs.

Mixed Leaves Everywhere
When our polytunnel is fully operational, we will have 72 trays of every type of lettuce growing. We got going over the week-end with the first 18 sown. Although we still have to be careful as I woke up this morning to a very white and frosty back garden. Well it is still February :-)
First Harvest of the Year !!!!!!!!!!!!
Got back into the groove yesterday. Harvested the leeks, a welcome surprise for the restaurant. Nick and I are back at it. The plan is to start planting on Paddy`s Day. In the meantime we are going to get the polytunnel into action. The good weather yesterday was the motivator !!!!

How the herbs lasted in that awful weather !!
Went up to say hello to the herbs this morning. The have all faired very well in their little plastic house. The condensation seems to give them just the right amount of water.
Happy New Year to Everybody !!!
